Itinerary: Hue to Hoi An (or reverse)
Part 1: City of Ghosts – An Bang Cemetery
Your journey begins with a visit to the remarkable An Bang Cemetery, often called the City of Ghosts. This striking site features rows of elaborate, royal-style tombs stretching over 3km of beachfront, showcasing Vietnam’s unique approach to ancestor worship. Despite living in modest homes, many families invest heavily—sometimes tens of thousands of dollars—into these tombs to honor their loved ones, offering deep insight into the spiritual values and family traditions of the region.
Part 2: Tam Giang Lagoon & Coastal Countryside Ride
We continue on to the vast Tam Giang Lagoon, the largest brackish water lagoon in Southeast Asia. Surrounded by peaceful fishing villages, it’s a perfect place to capture stunning photos and witness traditional fisherman life in action. From there, we cruise along quiet coastal roads, passing through rustic countryside as we make our way south toward the picturesque Lang Co Bay.
Part 3: Lang Co Lagoon & Hai Van Pass
Take a break at the serene Lang Co Oyster Lagoon, known for its calm turquoise waters and local oyster farms. Then gear up for the most thrilling segment of the tour — the legendary Hai Van Pass. Winding over 500 meters above sea level, this scenic mountain pass was once a historic boundary between kingdoms and a battleground during the war. Today, it’s hailed as Vietnam’s most iconic coastal drive, offering sweeping views of ocean, mountains, and sky.
Part 4: Marble Mountain & Arrival in Hoi An
Before reaching Hoi An, we make one final stop at Marble Mountain in Da Nang, a mystical cluster of five hills named after the five natural elements: metal, wood, water, fire, and earth. We’ll explore Water Mountain, filled with sacred caves, hidden pagodas, and war-era relics — including sites once used as a Viet Cong field hospital, just minutes from a former U.S. airbase. By late afternoon, arrive in Hoi An, carrying memories of a ride filled with natural beauty, cultural depth, and historical significance.
